“We are all stardust”

The grief of losing someone is all-consuming. Going through it as a kid is unfathomable, which is why initiatives like the Eluna Network’s ‘Camp Erin’ bereavement program exist.
Camp Erin’s mission is to help combat the feelings of isolation and loneliness by bringing kids together as a community to facilitate powerful experiences and collective healing.

As part of New York Life’s ‘Love Takes Action’ series highlighting communities and groups who are the embodiment of putting love into action,
this campaign underscored Camp Erin’s enduring partnership with the New York Life Foundation over the past 15 years.

Our film chronicles the reuniting of the kids of Camp Erin’s Tulsa chapter for one special day.

Research tells us that nighttime can be a difficult part of the day for grieving kids.

So we created the Constellation of Love as a tool to process those feelings and demonstrate how the night reveals a beauty we wouldn’t see unless the stars are out.
To launch the constellation, we purchased a star in honor of each child’s lost loved one and gathered the kids and their families at the planetarium for its unveiling.

We had John Herrington (retired NASA astronaut and the first Native American man in space) drop in on the planetarium dome
to deliver a special message, ensuring that his friends on the ISS would watch over the constellation.

The kids got to find their dedicated star with help from the planetarium’s resident stargazer.

In partnership with Star Registration, we created a digital version of the constellation so the kids can visit their star whenever they want.

This project was uniquely special and involved many partners and volunteers who brought it to life for the kids of Camp Erin.
